Padres sign Adrian Gonzalez’s brother to minor league deal (AP)
The Padres agreed to terms Tuesday with four minor league free agents, including infielder Edgar Gonzalez, the older brother of San Diego first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. Gonzalez played in 126 games for Triple-A Memphis last season, primarily at second base. He hit .308 with eight home runs and 53 RBIs.

Indians import: Cleveland signs Japanese closer Masahide Kobayashi to 2-year deal
Not to be confused with his hot-dog chomping countryman, this Kobayashi might make late innings easier to stomach for the Cleveland Indians.

Mets acquire catcher Johnny Estrada from Brewers for reliever Guillermo Mota (AP)
The New York Mets acquired Johnny Estrada from Milwaukee for reliever Guillermo Mota on Tuesday, moving quickly to plug their hole at catcher after talks with Yorvit Torrealba collapsed. The 31-year-old Estrada batted .278 with 10 homers and 54 RBIs for the Brewers this year. He can become a free agent after the 2008 season.
