NL champion Rockies agree to $2.5 million, 1-year deal with veteran relief pitcher Matt Herges (AP)
The Colorado Rockies agreed Friday to a $2.5 million, one-year deal with free agent reliever Matt Herges that includes a club option for 2009. The 37-year-old Herges started the season with Triple-A Colorado Springs, but became a key contributor in a second-half surge that carried the Rockies to their first NL pennant.
