Cleveland improves to 17-4 at home
One hefty snowstorm and 45 days later, the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners finally played nine innings.
Casey Blake homered and Josh Barfield had two RBIs as the Indians remained baseball’s best home team with a 5-2 win Monday night over the Mariners, who are about to rack up some frequent flyer miles.

Colorado activates Kaz Matsui (AP)
The Colorado Rockies activated second baseman Kaz Matsui on Monday and optioned Omar Quintanilla to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Matsui missed 32 games with lower back spasms. Matsui, who was in the lineup for Monday night’s game against Arizona, hit .361 (13-for-36) with three RBIs in nine games before the injury.

Buehrle says he’s OK with Pierzynski (AP)
White Sox starter Mark Buehrle said Monday there is no animosity between him and catcher A.J. Pierzynski. Buehrle defended reserve catcher Toby Hall on Sunday after Pierzynski went on a Chicago radio station Friday and said he was disappointed because he wasn’t in the lineup for the interleague opener against the Cubs.

Rangers activate Catalanotto, send down Metcalf (AP)
