Padres activate Bard; Branyan goes on bereavement list (AP)
Catcher Josh Bard was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday and was in the starting lineup for the San Diego Padres’ series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers. To make room on the roster, infielder Russell Branyan was placed on the bereavement list following the death of his father-in-law.
