John Smoltz outpitched former teammate Tom Glavine to help the Atlanta Braves beat New York 5-3 on Saturday, handing the Mets their first loss of the season. Pirates activate Sanchez off DL (AP)
The Pittsburgh Pirates activated NL batting champion Freddy Sanchez off the 15-day disabled list Saturday, reuniting him with the team in time for the final game of a series against the Cincinnati Reds. The Pirates also optioned Ryan Doumit to Triple-A Indianapolis, where he will be the everyday catcher.
