    Mets, Schoeneweis reach preliminary agreement on $10.8 million, 3-year deal (AP)

    Left-handed reliever Scott Schoeneweis and the New York Mets reached a preliminary agreement Wednesday on a $10.8 million, three-year contract. The deal is pending a physical, according to three people familiar with the negotiations. All three spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract had not yet been finalized.

    Willis pleads not guilty to DUI charge (AP)

    Florida Marlins pitcher Dontrelle Willis pleaded not guilty to drunken driving in Miami Beach, his attorney said Wednesday. Willis entered the plea in writing and did not appear in court, attorney Robert Reiff said. Reiff declined further comment. The 2003 NL Rookie of the Year was arrested Dec. 22 around 4 a.m.
