Muser hired as rookie-level manager (AP)
Former big league manager Tony Muser was hired as skipper of the Padres’ rookie-level team in Peoria, Ariz., on Thursday. Muser was the Padres’ bench coach the last four seasons. His contract wasn’t renewed after it expired on Oct. 31. Muser managed the Kansas City Royals from July 9, 1997, through 2002.
