Brocail, Padres agree to deal (AP)
Doug Brocail and the San Diego Padres have agreed on a $500,000, one-year deal, pending the right-handed reliever passing a physical. Brocail had two heart angioplasties in the spring and was activated at the end of the All-Star break. He went 2-2 with a 4.76 ERA in 25 appearances for the NL West champions.

First baseman-outfielder Ross Gload was traded by the Chicago White Sox on Saturday to the Kansas City Royals for reliever Andrew Sisco, a 6-foot-10 left-hander.
