Mets coach Acta expected to get Nationals managing job (AP)
Mets third-base coach Manny Acta is expected to be hired by the Washington Nationals as their new manager, a baseball official told The Associated Press on Saturday. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the Nationals hadn’t made an announcement, said he had been told that Acta is getting the job.

Buddy Kerr, former star shortstop, dies at 84 (AP)
Buddy Kerr, an All-Star shortstop who in the 1940s played 68 consecutive games without an error, has died. He was 84. Kerr died Tuesday after a short illness at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital, the New York Mets said.
