Buck Showalter, fired as manager of the Texas Rangers after last season, could soon join the Cleveland Indians as an adviser to general manager Mark Shapiro.

Kirk Gibson signs 2-year contract to be Arizona’s bench coach (AP)
Kirk Gibson joined the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, agreeing to a two-year contract to become the bench coach. The 49-year-old Gibson replaces Jay Bell, who stepped down after last season. Gibson, who hit 255 home runs during his major league career, served as bench coach for the Detroit Tigers from 2003-05 under then-manager Alan Trammell.
